How did I only recently find out about this place???
I’ve been in South Melbourne for the past 4 years and had never even heard of this place!
Ada Grace is a cute little cafe tucked away in one of the side streets in South Melbourne. The place is nice and cosy with an indoor garden on the roof!
I ordered my normal soy mocha. I find this a bit on the bitter side here but still nice none the less. My hubby ordered the green mango smoothie which I loved! You could have this just as a meal. The mango is subtle and the avocado makes the smoothie lovely and creamy.
I ordered the croquettes and hubby ordered the duck salad.
I found the croquettes nice and crunchy. I think they could have had more flavour in it but I liked how it was a nice and light meal.
I tried a bit of the duck salad. This was also nice and light, great for a healthy lunch. The orange segments give the dish some great freshness. I do however think this dish is quite overpriced. For $19.50, there isn’t much duck in the salad.
We’ve been back to this place another once or twice since the first time. It’s always nice to have a local which you know you can get good food and service!
My friends and I came here the other night. We had heard of this place previously and thought it sounded decent.
The decor was really nice. I loved the little lights that were hanging around the place! The service was friendly and prompt. Then came the menu. As we didn’t really know what to expect from the food we thought we would give a few things to try and share.
We started off with the Seared tuna and Cod croquettes. The Tuna was crusted with a peppery sort of crust which we all found wayyyy too peppery! Something more subtle could have been better as all we could taste was pepper which wasn’t very nice. The Cod Croquettes were good but I guess there was nothing to really rave on about.
For mains we thought we would try the Roast potato tortellini and we also ordered a Margherita and the San Daniele pizza. The tortellini was a bit of a let down. As a main dish we found it tiny. There were 3 tortellini’s on the dish. I’m not sure about people reading this but 3 tortellini’s is not a main meal. The taste was ok but for some strange reason, I thought it tasted a bit like a dim sim o.O
The pizzas were quite nice in flavour but the base of the pizzas were a bit thick for my liking. (Don’t have a picture of the San Daniele pizza)
Overall, I’m not sure if I would come back. Maybe if someone else wanted to come here but in regards to the food, it was very average.
Lemon Middle and Orange
Funky looking cafe with a wooden fit out. I love the look of it! It’s tucked away behind the Porsche dealership off Victoria street. The first time we came here, we actually arrived quite early in the morning. It was quite quiet in the cafe but it was actually really nice that it wasn’t all hustle and bustle.
We ordered our usual coffees and then pondered over the menu. I ended up ordering the croquettes of the day and my partner ordered the Waffles.
I loved the croquettes and I think they were a perfect size for brunch. To tell you the truth, I can’t remember what flavour the croquettes were. We went there a while ago and the flavours of the croquettes change each time we go. But I know I loved them none the less.
My partner fell in love with the waffles. He thought all the flavours went well together and he especially loved the crispy bacon on top. It was just the right crispiness!
We have been here twice already and are willing to come back again and again. I actually really loved my soy mocha the last time we went so I want to go back for more!
